As this is the winter route you do have to hike the few miles in to the trailhead from the road. There is a porta potty at the road entrance. It was ok. The road in was great. No snow. The plowed road section eventually ends and we had snow the rest of the way. We used yak trax from there on. Didn’t slip once :) as always the section to get down to the falls is sketchy. It was icy when we were there. We had trekking poles and our yak trax so no problem. But we saw many with just tennis shoes and they were slipping. You can always tell who reads these trail reports and who doesn’t. :) Most people we saw had some sort of traction added to their shoes. It was a good almost 7.3 miles out and back for us. We also had our husky and she loved it! People are still bagging dog poop and leaving on trail. Hope they picked it up on way out! There was actually a ton of dogs this day. My girl wears a backpack and will carry hers out whether she likes it or not. :) Have fun!
