When I go to Whidbey Island I usually head straight to Ebey’s Landing. It offers so much with the prairie, the bluff and the beach. Today I decided to check out some less visited trails.
I started at the Pacific Rim Institute near Coupeville. They have about 2 miles of grassy trail through the prairie. It’s a little early for the big flower show but I found a few and it was still a lovely, very peaceful walk. Nice spot for birdwatching.
I headed over to the Walking Ebey’s Trail that starts at the Admiralty Preserve.
I was a little disappointed with the preserve after wandering the wide open prairie at PRI. There were lots of fences and warning signs. Apparently it’s a bad idea to get close to the edge of the cliff.
I did enjoy the Walking trail. It starts in the woods then out in the open, skirting between private fields.
Nice clean honey bucket at the TH.
