Trip Report
Cathedral Rock, Peggy's Pond — Friday, May. 27, 2005
Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
Snow patches begin ~4300'. 2'-5' of snow for about 1.5 miles up to and beyond PCT junction. Gaiters and poles recommended. Few wildflowers. Postholing will probably get worse in the next week or two. Met a nice ranger at scenic and swimmable Squaw Lake, doing restoration work.
The crux is getting to TH in a sedan. The main car ford of Scatter Creek was dicey/deep on a hot afternoon. 12.5 miles of dirt road #4330 to TH is pretty heavily rutted. High clearance suggested. Very large number of car campers along #4330. A solid 2.5 hour overall drive OW from Seattle.
Continued on trail #1375 to Peggy's Pond (apparently not in WTA database). View of Mt. Daniel, Deep Lake, etc really opens up on this trail; highly recommended that hikers continue beyond the PCT jct. along this spur section. Met two hikers going up and six coming down on a Sat. holiday weekend afternoon. Just a few skeeters in the eve.
