Trip Report

Heather Park, Klahhane Ridge & Lake Angeles — Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast

There was a bike event going on the Sunday I started so I arrived to the TH around 1PM after borrowing a bear canister from the nice folks at the Port Angeles WIC. Starting out on the Heather Park trail was nice to be in the shade, not much to note until you climb some elevation and start getting some great views. Only saw a few people coming down that way. As I neared the pass where you’re able to go either towards Hurricane Ridge or Klahhane Ridge I ran into some more day hikers. Took a much needed break at this area and soaked in the amazing views. The best part of this loop hike was next in my opinion, the rock formations around the trail are super interesting and unlike what I’m used to in WA. Check out the photos. Lake Angeles pops into view as you start your descent. Arrived at the lake around 8 and found a little site crash for the night. Some guys nearby were acting a lil goofy and I think even had a campfire going? Pretty sure there’s a burn ban.  Next morning the trail back down was uneventful and I was so glad I did the very hard part first. Happy Trails!
