I was part of a WTA work party that worked on clearing brush and improving the tread on the Boundary Trail from just past the junction with the Lakes Trail up to the spur to Bear Camp. It’s my understanding other work parties will work on clearing the brush on the lower part of the trail from Norway Pass in the upcoming weeks. After work one day, our team did a hike up to Mt. Margaret from camp.

First and most importantly, there are road closures, so it’s important to follow the detour outlined in WTA’s alert that’s part of the Before You Go Section. Also, there is a stretch of road construction on FR25 that can lead to closures of over an hour, as a pair in our group found out the hard way. It's my understanding these construction closures only occur on weekdays.

The July 5 report does a good job of describing and showing the washout near Norway Pass. There was one large snowfield on a slope en route to Mt Margaret that everyone in our group took slowly.

The views from Mt Margaret were spectacular, and there were lots of flowers to enjoy along the way.

A couple notes about Bear Camp. The three nights we were there, it was like sleeping in a wind tunnel. The final night was so bad that three people had their tents collapse in the middle of the night. There is one spot in a less-than-ideal location right next to the privy, but it seemed to be the only one spared from the wind. Climbing up the ridge to the right as you enter camp leads to fantastic sunrise views of lots of volcanoes.
