News you can use at Methow Pass
Spent 2 nights just downhill from Cutthroat Pass, where there are berries and a trickle of water. We hiked the 5 miles in from Rainy Pass on Friday. We wanted to be in place on Saturday morning to cheer for the people running the Cutthroat Classic. Great fun to see all ages, shapes and sizes running over the pass! By 10:30 am all the runners had passed. We had to get some exercise of our own, so we headed north on the PCT toward Methow Pass. This trail is in great shape - totally clear! Awesome rebuilding over the washouts. There was some water in the drainages between Granite Pass and Methow Pass. We saw about six parties of 2 or 3 people intending to camp at Snowy Lakes. We turned around at Methow Pass to get back to our camp. Spent a surprisingly warm night, and hiked out on Sunday. What a beautiful place! Pro Tip: Mountain bikes are allowed to ride up from Cutthroat Lake to Cutthroat Pass, but they need to stop there and NOT ride on the PCT.
