Perry Creek had been on my wish list for a long time and yesterday I finally had an opportunity to hike it to the upper falls. I’m now 74 and so grateful that my Pilates, bicycling to work, and going without a car during the week all keep in me in good shape to do these trails. Our hike was just under six miles round trip. The trail reminds me a lot of the Snow Lake Trail at Snoqualmie Pass. A combination of fabulous woods enveloped paths combined with rocky areas. As you go up the trail, you can look across and see a number of waterfalls cascading down. The flowers were continuing to bloom and I would guess that the next two weeks will be pretty incredible. Saw some lovely old growth trees. The first water crossing was dry, the second one, just a bit before the top of the falls, was challenging but doable. Because we weren’t going beyond the upper falls, no need to cross the third one. Not a lot of hikers on this route which makes it even that much more special. Do wear hiking boots/shoes and personally I would recommend long pants because of the nettles though many others wore shorts. I always use hiking poles. No rain for us though earlier hikers did experience it. I’ll do it again this summer and venture beyond toward Mt. Forgotten Meadows.
