WTA's hiking guide is the most comprehensive database of hikes in Washington, and comprises content written by local hiking experts and user submitted information. All data is vetted by WTA staff. This resource is made possible by the donations of WTA members.

Liberty, originally named Meaghersville, is a living ghost town. It was the center of a Washington State gold rush in the 1870s and has the look and feel often associated with the term ghost town. There is no formal trail through Liberty, but the open landscape makes it easy to navigate. Since it begins by the roadside, it’s a perfect exploration for all ages and abilities.

Roughouse Mountain is the unofficial name for this peak in southwestern Chelan County. This relatively easy-to-climb peak is great for beginners or for those looking for non-technical snowshoeing in the off-season.

An overlook accessible from the Table Mountain trail, Tronsen Head offers nice views of the surrounding valleys, excellent in the fall when the larches are turning.

Mount Lillian makes for a great day hike in spring, with its fabulous wildflowers and miles of incredible views paired with mild elevation gains (and mostly good trail).

Beginning at Forest Road 9712 and ending at the Forest Boundary, the Old Ellensburg Trail comprises one-third of the three trails used to make a popular loop around Mount Lillian.

The Naneum-Wilson trail features abundant wildflowers in spring as you traverse a large meadowed plateau recovering from a wildfire and studded with abundant creeks. With modest elevation gain, you will have expansive views of surrounding mountain ridges.

Beginning at a large intersection of Forest Road 3500, the Wilson Creek Trail meanders along a plateau of lodgepole pines. At the end of this trail, you'll be at the junction with the High Creek trail and further adventures.

Grass Camp Trail provides good loop opportunities in the wildflower-rich area southeast of Blewett Pass. Use a variety of nearby trails to create loops or traverses through this area.

Boulder Cave is closed for the winter. It will reopen again in mid-May of 2026.

Boulder Cave formed millions of years ago from volcanic activity. Today, the cave is home to a dwindling population of Pacific western big-eared bats.

Tolt-MacDonald Park is an outdoor recreation treasure for all King County residents! With 12 miles of forested and riverside trails, this is a favorite mountain biking and hiking destination. The backcountry area of the park is located on the west side of the Snoqualmie River across the suspension bridge.

The trail climbs sharply through a forest of Douglas fir for a mile to a view of the Goat Rocks, Sawtooth Mountain, Mount Rainier, and Mount Adams. From this viewpoint you get a great view of Mount Adams and the Goat Rocks. It's worth bringing a camera for this one.

Indian Heaven trail provides access to one of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest's most popular areas. The Indian Heaven Wilderness is a high, forested plateau dotted with lakes and berry-filled meadows. Its a lovely location for a day hike or a backpacking trip. Some connect this trail with Cultus Creek trail and the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) to make a popular loop hike.

Visitors to this trail must pack out all human waste and not bury it.

Find supreme wildflower gardens and a high-country plateau speckled with shimmering tarns-but that's not all. Spectacular alpine vistas abound too-of Baker, Shuksan, and all those rugged and craggy peaks straddling the 49th parallel. Yellow Aster Butte may be a misnomer (those yellow-petaled delights are actually daisies), but you definitely don't want to miss hiking here.

This Mercer Island park offers a dense network of forest trails with tall trees and a lot of moss, ferns and some seasonal wildflowers. All the trails are open to hikers and bicyclists; some also are designated for use by equestrians.

Designed for cross-country skiing, Echo Ridge also offers routes for mountain biking, family hiking, and horse use. Recreation enthusiasts are greeted with a variety of loop trails with spectacular views of Lake Chelan, the Enchantments, Pyramid Peak and Okanogan Highlands.
